Skills Labs Materials...
How to Develop and Present Activities that Simulate Tasks Learners Must Perform On the Job
Introduction...
Prepare & Conduct Skills Labs (SL) is a self-instructional program that is another step in ESF's process of becoming a professional trainer, hence the name "ProTrainer" which is ESF's Total Training Process (ESF's ISD Model).
The Skills Labs Program consists of competency-based materials that enables the participant to transfer the training technology skills learned in the basic IDLS-Pro Trainer 1 and Interactive Teaching Skills programs. Participants will practice preparing and conducting various types of skills labs through role plays, critiques, and individualized instruction. Individualized coaching is also provided.

How to Use the Materials...
When using the Skills Labs (SL) Materials on a self-study basis, you must practice the skills included in the Skills Lab of each module. When practicing these skills, it is best to videotape yourself in front of an audience whether the audience consists of co-workers, family, or friends.
Use the Performance Checklist that is included with each Skills Lab to critique yourself first. Then, ask each member of the audience to critique you, once again using the Performance Checklists provided in the Skills Lab. The most important rule for the critique session is to allow absolutely NO negatives in the review process. The only acceptable responses from yourself or participating members is constructive criticism, that is, what can you do to improve. The second rule is to keep each critique no more than one minute per person.
Be sure to videotape yourself at least three times. You will be astonished at the improvement in your skills after each presentation. |
