ESF Introduces Its Competency-Based Training Process

From the very beginning of its origin in 1969, ESF offered its ProTrainer Processes to to a wide variety of organizations in all parts of the world: all across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Central and South America, Australia and Asia.

ESF: Training for Trains

> The National Railroad Passenger Corporation, doing business as Amtrak, is a government-owned corporation that was organized on May 1, 1971 to provide intercity passenger train service in the United States.

In 1988, ESF designed, developed, and validated a series of programs to train Amtrak conductors. The training materials used a combination of self-instructional workbooks and instructor-led classroom activities.

ESF also conducted a series of IDLS-ProTrainer 1 Workshops for the Amtrak staff trainers. As a result, the Amtrak developers created modules that followed ESF's IDLS course design principles.

Nation's Largest Auto Club

The Automobile Club of Southern California is a membership organization, and provides free services to members including maps, travel planning, emergency roadside service, and DMV services.

AAA of Southern California has an affiliated insurance company, which is one of California's largest insurers. It provides coverage for homes, recreational vehicles and watercraft as well as cars and trucks.

It is the largest affiliate of the American Automobile Association (AAA).

ESF conducted IDLS-ProTrainer 1 Workshops for the trainers of the Auto Club (AAA) of Southern California at its Los Angeles, CA headquarters. AAA trainers who participated were from various auto club activities, including insurance, sales, computers, towing, etc.

A Challenge Solved Through ESF's Needs Analysis

The Eyre Bus, Tour, and Travel Company has provided excellence in travel. For 60 years travelers have used their transportation services with confidence and relied on their expertise on travel planning and tours.

In 1993, ESF performed a Needs Analysis for the Eyre Bus Company, Glenelg, Maryland, as part of Eyre's process of providing an up-to-date computerized approach to scheduling, tracking inventory, and tracking mileage and gas usage. ESF interviewed drivers, schedulers, dispatchers, cleaners, and mechanics to determine problems within the company.

ESF's Needs Analysis process uncovered a variety of problems that was costing the bus company tremendous amounts of money in terms of wasted time, disorganization, and poor methods of performing various jobs. ESF recommended solutions to each problem uncovered and sent up a plan to implement the solutions. Some of the solutions could be implemented at a minimal cost thus saving the company thousands of dollars annually.

IDLS-ProTrainer 1: Corporate Staff Training

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company is the third largest tire company in the world. Goodyear manufactures tires for automobiles, commercial trucks, light trucks, SUVs, race cars, airplanes, and heavy earth-mover machinery.

Goodyear is famous throughout the world because of the Goodyear blimp. The first Goodyear blimp flew in 1925. Today it is one of the most recognizable advertising icons in America.

ESF conducted IDLS Workshops for Goodyear corporate headquarters training staff at Akron, OH in sales training as well as in the plant manufacturing and production areas.

In 2008, ESF trained HMSHost personnel in the IDLS-ProTrainer 1 Process through ESF's distance learning approach. HMSHost has also used the IDLS process in several of its training activities through osmosis provided through HMSHost's Training Director, Joseph Reif, who worked for ESF for ten years before ESF moved to Florida. During that time, he worked on several major projects including the Dow Chemical Diamond Service (SAP) Project.
