Interactive Teaching Skills Workshop

Introduction

Interactive Teaching Skills (ITS) is another step in ESF's process of becoming a professional trainer, hence the name "ProTrainer" which is ESF's Total Training Process (ESF's ISD Model).

The ITS Workshop is a competency-based program that enables the participant to use interactive instructional techniques.

After the instructor models the correct performance during each of three skills labs, each participant prepares a presentation, then presents it to the group. Participants' presentations are videotaped. Each participant receives critiques from the instructor and class members to improve their presentation techniques. Participants can readily see their improvement from the first tape to the third. Individualized coaching is also provided.

 

What You Will Learn...

During ESF's competency-based Interactive Teaching Skills Workshop, you will:

  • Set up an interactive classroom
  • Present yourself as approachable
  • Leave your personal problems at the door
  • Begin the class by:
  • Inviting learners to introduce themselves to the group
  • Stating course objectives
  • Mentioning points of business and logistics
  • Reviewing the agenda and schedule
  • Invite learners to be interactive
  • Anticipate learners' needs
  • Put learners at ease
  • Use interactive presentation techniques
  • Use media interactively

  • Actively collect responses from learners
  • Provide positive feedback to learner’s responses

  • Use Skills Labs to:
  • Conduct "hands-on" practice sessions
  • Use coaching skills
